Why Guatemala?
It’s simple. The beauty.
The beauty of the people, textiles, food, mountains, volcanos, lakes, cobblestone streets. The heart of the country. I was there October 2024 and I cannot wait to take you back with me!
Imagine This…
You’re sipping fresh, rich Guatemalan coffee as the morning unfolds around you. Bright colors, warm air, street sounds, laughter, and the kind of energy that makes you feel instantly alive. That’s Guatemala.
You’re surrounded by women who feel like instant friends. The kind of women who lift you up, laugh with you, and make you feel safe to be your whole self. That’s who my trips attract.
You feel free. You feel relaxed. You’re swapping stories, snapping photos, trying new foods, and getting lost (in the fun way).
This isn’t just a vacation sugar plum. It’s a week designed to reconnect you with the beauty of the world and reconnect you to yourself, the version that finally said yes!
Itinerary
-
Today you’ll land in Guatemala City and make your way to the colorful, cobblestoned charm of Antigua.
Depending on when you arrive, you can wander to a café, grab a delicious lunch, or simply settle into your hotel and soak up the sounds and energy of this historic town.
As evening arrives, our whole group gathers for the first time for a warm, welcoming info session to kick off our adventure. We’ll share a delicious Guatemalan dinner, get to know each other, and get ready for the magic of the week ahead.
Meals included: Dinner
Accommodation: Antigua
-
We’ll kick off the morning with a locally guided walking tour led by an incredible Guatemalan woman who’ll bring Antigua’s history, architecture, and hidden gems to life. Along the way, you’ll nibble on delicious street food snacks and get the inside scoop on the best shops, markets, and spots to explore later.
The afternoon is all yours — wander the vibrant streets, treat yourself to a spa service, or dive into a little shopping adventure.
As the sun dips lower, we’ll reunite for a hands-on chocolate-making workshop where you’ll taste, create, and giggle your way through the magic of cacao.
Meals included: Breakfast
Accommodation: Antigua
-
This morning we’ll head out to a local coffee cooperative that empowers Guatemalan families to grow, roast, and sell their beans with pride and purpose. A woman coffee grower will guide us through her farm, sharing stories, traditions, and of course, plenty of fresh, rich tastings.
After a homestyle, freshly prepared lunch on the farm, we’ll head back to Antigua for an open afternoon to choose your own adventure: an ATV ride (for the thrill seekers!) will be organized, but if that’s not your speed you can attend a jade workshop, wander the artisan markets, indulge in a spa service, or find a cozy café with a good book.
In the evening, we’ll come together again for a lively salsa dancing class — no partner or rhythm required, just laughter and a willingness to move.
Meals included: Breakfast & Lunch
Accommodation: Antigua*afternoon ATV ride is optional and not included in the price
-
This morning we’ll head out in a private van to Iximché, an ancient Mayan archaeological site rich with history, stories, and spirit. A local guide will walk us through the ruins, sharing the significance of this sacred place and the people who once lived there.
Afterward, we’ll meet with a Mayan woman healer who will lead us through a beautiful Mayan spiritual ceremony—a grounding, heart-opening experience you’ll remember long after the trip.
From there, we’ll continue on to the breathtaking Lake Atitlán, where a private boat will take us across the water to our accommodation in San Pedro La Laguna.
Meals included: Breakfast & Lunch
Accommodation: San Pedro La Laguna, Lake Atitlán
-
Today you’ll meet Anita, one of the most inspiring women you’ll encounter in Guatemala. She’ll share her powerful story of building a cooking school and women’s weaving cooperative that now supports single mothers in her community.
Together, you’ll wander through the bustling local market, tasting, sampling, and gathering ingredients before heading back to her home for an interactive cooking class filled with laughter, learning, and incredible flavors. After enjoying the feast you helped create, you’re invited to visit her weaving cooperative to see firsthand how her initiative uplifts women and preserves tradition.
In the afternoon, you’re free to explore San Pedro’s colorful alleys, rent a kayak around the lake, or catch a lancha (boat) to San Marcos — a chill, hippie-spirited village known for yoga classes and the best massages around.
Meals included: Lunch
Accommodation: San Pedro La Laguna, Lake Atitlán
-
Get ready, because today is a full-on feast for your eyes, senses, and spirit. We’ll hop on a lancha (boat) across Lake Atitlán to the vibrant village of San Juan, known for its creativity, color, and deep-rooted women’s entrepreneurship.
A local guide will walk us through the village’s history before we visit an array of incredible women-owned businesses— from traditional weaving collectives to chocolate makers, leather goods artisans, and honey bee keepers buzzing with sweetness. You’ll see how each woman blends heritage, craft, and innovation into something magical.
We’ll end our visit with an intimate, home-cooked lunch at the home and restaurant of a local woman whose food truly tastes like love and legacy.
Meals included: Lunch
Accommodation: San Pedro La Laguna, Lake Atitlán
-
This morning we’ll say a sweet goodbye to Lake Atitlán and take a private boat over to Panajachel, where our Guatemalan guide will meet us for the journey to Chichicastenango, home of the largest and most iconic market in the entire country.
Get ready for your senses to be in heaven all over again — vibrant textiles, handmade treasures, incense, colors, carvings, flowers, flavors, and artistry everywhere you turn. We’ll explore the market, enjoy lunch in town, and soak in the special energy of Palm Sunday, one of the most important days in the Christian calendar. If we’re lucky, we might catch a lively parade or celebration winding through the streets.
After this unforgettable cultural immersion, we’ll continue on to Guatemala City and settle into our hotel before gathering for our final dinner and closing workshop — a heartfelt moment to reflect, celebrate, and honor the sisterhood that’s formed.
Meals included: Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: Guatemala City
-
We’ll share one final breakfast together at the hotel before hugs, goodbyes, and “see you on the next adventure.”
Whenever it’s your time to head out, the shuttle will take you back to the airport for your journey home :(
It’s a gentle, easy morning to reflect on the memories, friendships, and magic you’re bringing back with you.

New Here?
Meet your trip host, Alyssa
As a certified travel coach for women, I am always asked, “What if I’m lonely or bored or scared on my solo trip?” Or, “I don’t know how to solo travel!”
Women saw me traveling solo and wanted to know how I did it. They wanted to stop waiting— for their friend circles or partner to say yes, their kids to get older, their dogs to stop whining, for the stress to go away—and feel free to take off by themselves but had so many doubts and fears about going alone.
That’s where the birth of my group trips started. Solo, but not alone!
My favorite thing about leading group trips is seeing women’s faces light up as they gain confidence and feel connected to the places and people they meet.
All without lifting a finger. I do it all and you get to show up and enjoy the ride.
This Trip Is For You If…
✔ You are kind, thoughtful, self-aware, and drama free.
✔ You are eager to learn about a different culture, the locals, and want to take care of the land. We’re guests, not consumers.
✔ You understand that things don’t operate in Guatemala as they do back home, so you’re okay going with the flow if need be.
✔ You celebrate differences such as backgrounds, beliefs, personalities, or ages.
✔ You want to support other women and are open to other women supporting you if you need it!
✔ You are ready to say yes to the moment. You go to Guatemala for more than just a trip. You go for your heart to burst open and feel a deep sense of connection to others. Be prepared to be transformed.
✔You like to laugh and have fun. Life is too short to be serious all the time!
Hear From Past Travelers:
“This trip gave me all the college dorm vibes again—late-night laughs, both deep and silly conversations, amazing food, and nonstop adventures. Because we didn’t all know each other well, it created space for openness, surprise, and genuine connection. Solo Girl Wanders did an amazing job curating such a memorable experience for us.” —Melinda
“Having Alyssa plan the trip cut out hours of research and decision making and it was nice to be a follower and not a leader. It was nice to give up that responsibility!”—Katie
Our girls’ trip with Solo Girl Wanders was action-packed, full of cultural experiences, and incredibly educational. Traveling with Alyssa made every moment even more special, blending fun and connection with a deeper understanding of traditions. It was the perfect adventure for women who want meaningful travel.” —Sharon

Yes! I recommend “cancel for any reason” insurance, but at a minimum you must purchase medical coverage and post-departure coverage.
Buy insurance within 10-14 days of your first trip payment for maximum coverage options since some insurance won’t cover pre-existing conditions if you wait.
I recommend, and am proud to partner with Wanderwell, a Certified B Corporation travel insurance provider that makes it as simple as possible. They don’t overwhelm you with options, offering just a few modern, benefit-packed trip protection plans that can cover the most common travel perils related to trip cancellation, trip interruption, trip delay, travel Medical Expenses, baggage & personal effects, Emergency Medical Evacuation, and more.
At least one percent of their revenue from this purchase will be donated to the Planet Impact Fund through 1% for the Planet network.

*Note, you must be at least 18 years of age.

Everyone will get one 45 minute call with me before the trip to help them with any specific needs. In addition, a WhatsApp group chat will be created 60 days before the trip to help you along the way.

To hold your spot, you have to put down a $849 deposit. The remaining payments are as follows:
$800 is due January 1s, 2026
$800 is due February 1st, 2026
You will be sent payment reminders 10 days before each payment is due. Solo Girl Wanders does not store your credit card payment so you must pay these individually.

Because of the small, intimate nature of this trip, I will not be able to offer any refunds. I have to pay the vendors in Guatemala and many of them have no refund policies as well. Please purchase trip insurance with “cancel for any reason” if you’re not sure! DM me if you need help with this.
